On July 6, 2009 the Thames Fatales took a bus to Ottawa and played in a tough game against the Rideau Valley Rollergirls Slaughter Daughters, and lost 170-55. It was a crushing blow for the Thames, but were eagerly awaiting their chance for a rematch!

On Oct 3, the Slaughter Daughters arrived in London to play in Bounce This!, the first home game in London, Ontartio since the spring. Before a hometown crowd of over 700 fans, the Thames were able to defeat the Daughters 149-95 despite some hard hits, and star jamming by the RVRG skaters, and a first period injury of FCDG star blocker, Mirambo, who suffered a broken collarbone after a big hit, and was taken to the hospital by paramedics. Don’t worry, she’s okay. Mirambo is having surgery to correct the break, and will be back.  We wish her a quick recovery!

Mirambo #69:. We are wishing Mirambo a speedy recovery from her broken collar bone. This game was not as fun without her. Any fans wishing to send Get Well Messages her way contact anyaface@gmail.com and Anya Face will pass them on!

On the Thames Fatales side we saw a star performance by the whole line-up, but Killson was most certainly the MVP. She was playing fast and smart. Between her massive points and the solid blocking line shutting down the jammers from the Daughters, while Anya Face took the brunt of the RVRG blocking line, the Thames were just consistently holding onto their lead. They seemed to get stronger as the game wore on, instead of tiring out. It was a truly fantastic game to watch, and the crowds were very supportive.

FCDG would like to thank the Slaughter Daughters for coming out London to play, and we hope they enjoyed London and will be back next season. We also want to thank our referees, volunteers, the band, our sponsors and mostly, the fans. We couldn’t do it without you, and we hope to see you at our next bout, November 7, as we take on the Tri-City Rollergirls Champion team (TBD) to close our 2009 season.
