Thames FatalesFCDG are recruiting now for training through 2009 and early 2010 for the 2010 roller derby season. FCDG would like to recruit moke skaters to provide more roller derby bouts to the London local area in 2010.

You do not need previous roller derby experience, as we will reach you how to play. Skating experience (ice, roller blade or roller skate) is recommended, but not required. Previous sports experience is not required, but does help.

Skaters must be 19+ but there is no upper age limit. If you feel comfortable with contact in sports, you can try roller derby!

You will learn:
- Basic skate skills on Quad Speed Skates
- How to skate, stop, fall, get up, run, jump, and check/block opposing skaters while on skate.
- You will strengthen your entire lower body and core, add endurance, speed and agility to your skating as you progress.

You will need:
We have limited loaner equipment for a first-timer, so plan, if you like it, to purchase your own skates, safety equipment (knee & elbow pads, wrist guards, skate helmet and mouth guard), and we do require skaters to be covered by insurance in case of injuries.

Costs: TBD.
Monthly dues once you are a full time skater for FCDG are $45. This covers practice space rental and your training. Once you are a full member, practice will be 2-3 times per week. All practices are held in the evening and are from 2-3 hours.

Rookie practices are Tuesday nights for 1 ½ hours.
